Let’s move on shall we?

Designer love and Giveaway: Sugar Bug Clothing – Denver Child Photographer

· May 20, 2011 · 1:27 pm · Boutique Products, Children, Just for Fun, What to Wear

Meet Melissa from Sugar Bug Clothing and Accessories. I met Melissa a few months ago when I fell in-love with her clothing line and bought a adorable outfit for my daughter. Melissa describes her clothing and accessories as modern boutique style and loves playing with different fabrics to create stylish dresses, pants, hats, skirts, headbands and photo props!

Here are a few questions Melissa provided about herself:

Your name (do you have any nicknames?)
Melissa Myers (no nicknames)

Whats the name of your company and how long in business?
Sugar Bug clothing and accessories. I have been in business for about 5 months. Before this I had my business Babies In Bloom. I made other baby items and found sewing clothing so much more enjoyable and rewarding. I took a break in-between to take a sewing class, feel that my quality was good enough to sell, and to get a business plan in action.

Where did the name Sugar Bug come from?
It took me a long time to come up with a name. I didn’t want to rush into something. I wanted something that could be for boys, girls, babies, and big kids. I wanted it to be meaningful to me. I thought and thought for months about what I wanted it to be. One night it suddenly came to me. My Granddad (an AMAZING man, father, and grandfather) called my mom Sugar Bug from when she was little until he passed away. My whole family still calls her Sugar Bug. My mom is my best friend, biggest supporter, and helps me with the business. I am so happy to say that I named it after her.

Did you always like to sew? If not, when and why did you start?
When I was little we still had Home Economics in school. That makes me sound old J I learned to sew when I was in 6th grade. My first project was sewing a Strawberry Shortcake appliqué on a towel. I got my first sewing machine my senior year in high school for Christmas from my mom. I used to sew purses for myself in high school. In college I used to sew little shirts for myself. I have always loved it, but started sewing a lot just over a year ago. I took a fashion merchandising and textiles class in College at CSU and planned on pursuing it but never did. I’m glad I didn’t because I love being a stay at home mom first and foremost.

What do you do outside of your business in your spare time?
I do really enjoy sewing. I am so lucky to be doing something that I enjoy. I love creating new items and changing patterns to be something unique to me. I love taking photos and could spend hours editing them. Other than that I love to shop! Online shopping, store shopping, flea market and antique shopping, if it involves shopping….I love it! I love to spend time with my daughters, my wonderful husband, and my family.

What is your favorite TV show?
I can’t pick just one. I LOVE Survivor!! I have watched every season. I also love Modern Family, The Office, Vampire Diaries, Bachelor/Bachelorette, Desperate Housewives.

Lastly, how can people find your adorable clothing line?
You can find me on ETSY at http://www.etsy.com/shop/sugarbugclothing You can visit my website to purchase a few things through paypal www.sugarbugclothing.com and you can also find me on facebook www.facebook.com/sugarbugclothing If there is something that isn’t listed I would be happy to set up a listing. I have promised myself from day 1 that I want to provide excellent customer service and keep my customers happy. I don’t want to be one of those people that are too busy for their customers. I don’t want to take on too much and make promises that I can’t keep. I am happy staying small for as long as I can to provide the best customer service possible.

I have to close by saying thank you to my mom for helping me so much with the business. Without her I don’t know how I would do it. I also have to thank my wonderful, supportive husband. He helps so much with the kids and picks up so much of the slack at home from me being so busy with the business.

Thank you Melissa for sharing a little about yourself with us! Check out a few photos from our shoot.

Because I L-O-V-E her stuff I will be giving away her Sugar Bug Enchanted Sarafina Tie Back Knot Dress. The winner will choose the size of the dress for her little angel which comes in size 3 months to 5t and will be shipped directly from Melissa. See below for entry details.

This and that and that and this – Denver, Colorado Portrait Photographer

· May 17, 2011 · 2:17 pm · Uncategorized

That is what I have been up to 🙂 I know it’s been a few weeks since I have been around. It’s not because I didn’t want to be, believe me. We finally closed on our new house and were moving, unpacking, priming, painting, sealing, grouting, more sealing, cleaning up knocked over gallons of paint, putting down new carpet, tearing down, cleaning up, putting up, drilling and un-drilling…I think that about covers it! On top of all this, I still managed to fit in 4 photo sessions and one awesome commercial session for Sugar Bug clothing…more on that in my next post.

If your anything like me, you love to look at houses. I can literally spend hours searching the internet looking at new, old and the all the in-between houses that are for sale. So I have decided to open my new house and all the adventures of a do-it-yourselfer to all of you! These photos were taken with my phone since my real camera was far far away from all the mishap and paint spilling issues.

Front of our house

Taking up the old tile

Putting down new tile

Grouting

Taking down wood paneling from wall…this HAD to go!

~ Welcome ~

I'm Angela and I love what I do.

I play many different roles in my life, but boring is not one of them. I'm silly, quarky, completly honest and try to live life to it's fullest. I put my heart and soul into photography and take great pride in my work and making sure my clients leave with beautiful works of art they can cherish forever.

I love natural light photography and love working outdoors, however, I have a dedicated studio with professional grade lighting, props and decors specifically for newborns and young children. I adore creating art with color and light. Client galleries are a variety of work tailored to their preferences and edited to my style.

This was just a little bit about me. I can't wait to meet you and I hope that viewing my work will bring each of you as many smiles as it has brought to me!

xoxo ~ Angela
